Sumario: | This article takes stock of “The Protection of Minors in the Church” meeting, held February 21-24, 2019, and briefly recalls the main reports, articulated around the principal themes of the three days of work (“responsibility”; “accountability”; “transparency”). The article goes on to summarize the Pope’s concluding speech, which inserted the tragedy of sexual abuse of minors in the Church into the broader one of violence against children throughout the world; in addition, certain fundamental lines of the Catholic Church’s commitment were reiterated. Continuing, this article outlines the main positive results to emerge from the Meeting, and finally indicates a series of concrete commitments which are expected to be realized by the local Churches, and Vatican bodies.
