| Sumario: | The theology of personhood in contemporary Orthodox theology is an example of contextual theology insofar as it furthers the tradition of thinking on divine-human communion in Eastern Christianity while simultaneously absorbing contemporary patterns of thought as it seeks to respond to the challenges of the moment. This paper attempts to develop this Orthodox theology of personhood by relating it to Saint Maximus the Confessor’s understanding of virtue as learning how to love. The relevance of this theology of personhood is demonstrated in relation to the ethics of war. |
