Sumario: | This doctoral thesis by Jarvis Durán Cantillo explores the stimulation of cognitive independence in second-year students of the Speech Therapy program. The study focuses on the pedagogical approaches that encourage cognitive independence during the teaching-learning process. It reviews the historical evolution, philosophical, psychological, pedagogical, and methodological conceptions related to this theme. The thesis offers a methodology for stimulating cognitive independence, structured in three stages, and evaluates its viability, feasibility, and validity. It aims to prepare educators to foster independent thinking skills necessary for students to adapt to various contexts and challenges. The research is grounded in a materialist and dialectical understanding of knowledge, intended for educators and researchers in pedagogical sciences.
