Sumario:This review emphasizes the pathologic features of psoriatic lesions, recent genetic studies of psoriasis, and immunologic factors in the disease. The evolution of a psoriatic lesion entails a complex interplay between environmental and genetic factors, which sets the scene for a cascade of events that activate dendritic cells and T cells. Cross-talk between epithelial cells and immune cells shapes and maintains the inflammatory milieu.
