Sumario: | In the five years since the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Standing Committee on Emerging Science for Environmental Health Decisions (ESEH) held its first workshop on the microbes that inhabit the human body, known as the microbiome, the amount of research in the field has increased exponentially. On January 14 and 15, 2016, the committee held its second workshop on the topic, which highlighted what researchers have learned since 2011, and discussed elements that could help inform the research carried out in the next decade and aid in its integration into policy. |
