| Sumario: | This book explores the nature and normativity of the epistemic state of understanding. Particular attention is devoted to the relation between understanding and truth, the relation between understanding and explanation, and the relation between understanding and knowledge. The author defends the claim that understanding is a (moderately) factive epistemic state not necessarily achieved with the aid of explanations and probably different than knowledge. Dieses Buch untersucht die Natur und Normativität des epistemischen Zustands des Verstehens. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit wird dem Verhältnis von Verstehen und Wahrheit, dem Verhältnis von Verstehen und Erklären und dem Verhältnis von Verstehen und Wissen gewidmet. Die Autorin verteidigt die These, dass Verstehen ein epistemischer Zustand ist, der wahre Überzeugungen involviert, der nicht nur mit Hilfe von Erklärungen erreicht wird, und der wahrscheinlich auf Wissen sich nicht reduzieren lässt. |
