Sumario:"At a time when states are increasingly hostile to the international rights regime, human rights activists have forged alliances with non-state and sub-state actors as a point of entry for the implementation of human rights law. These recent developments complicate conventional analysis of relationships between local actors, global norms, and cosmopolitanism. The "lived realities of human rights" explored centrally in this book are shown to exist outside of human rights' traditional state-centrism and beyond a local-cosmopolitan binary. The contributions in this collection critically engage with debates on localism and cosmopolitanism, weaving insights from social sciences, humanities, and medicine into a broader call for interdisciplinary scholarship informed by practice. Chapters draw together theoretical frameworks on localism and cosmopolitanism, with case studies ranging from the #metoo movement and Black Lives Matter to the human rights implications of Covid-19. Overall, the contributors argue that much of the work to be done centres on how human rights approaches can be better integrated across local and global institutions and better targeted towards grassroots-informed structural reform."--
