Sumario: | The ACM/SIGGRAPH Workshop on "User-Oriented Design of Interactive Graphics Systems" was conducted at the Hilton Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pa. on October 14 and 15, 1976. It represents a major attempt on the part of a highly technically oriented organization to bring together selected individuals from various disciplines, including psychology, for purposes of jointly addressing the objective of mutual interest: deliberate design of interactive graphics systems with the user (in addition to the technology) in mind. Attendance was by invitation only. Thirty-eight persons actually participated. Further administrative details can be found in Part IV of this volume. The other three parts contain submitted papers, invited papers and session summaries (including conclusions) respectively. These are also separately introduced on pages indicated by the Table of Contents.
