Sumario:It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2018 ACM International Workshop on Wireless Network Testbeds, Experimental evaluation & Characterization (WiNTECH'18). This year, WiNTECH is proud to enter its 12th year and stands out among the most long-lasting workshops co-located with ACM MobiCom. WiNTECH continues bringing together important researchers and industry players working in various aspects of experimental wireless networking and communication. The mission of this workshop is to serve as a forum for sharing new ideas and experiences gathered across all experimental aspects of wireless networks and systems, including but not limited to the methodological and technical issues that have to be faced for defining, running, controlling and benchmarking experiments on wireless solutions. We believe that this year's workshop will tackle various new challenges emerging in the field experimental observations in mobile networks, wireless LANs, wireless networks for the Internet-of-Things, high bandwidth networks, visible light communication, vehicular networks and testbeds of software radios, to name a few. The call for papers has attracted submissions from Asia, Europe and the United States. 10 out of 16 submissions have been selected into three full technical paper sessions. Continuing the tradition of previous years, high-quality work at WiNTECH will be considered for a fast track on special issues in Elsevier Computer Communications (COMCOM). In addition, all the regular papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award, which will be announced at the end of this workshop. As a prominent feature at WiNTech'18, it is our great pleasure to have 4 demos included in our program. It is also our great honor to have two special invited talks in our program. Prof. Joerg Widmer will give the keynote talk on Practical Millimeter Wave Research on Custom Testbeds and Commercial Off-The-Shelf Devices. We believe his insightful talk will help us better understand the future of mm-wave research and the challenges in designing practical testbeds. Dr. Pravin Bhagwat, founder and CTO, Mojo Networks, will give a closing address on transforming a campus Wi-Fi networks into an experimental testbed.
