Chr. stammenden Verhaltensanweisungen für das tägliche Leben wohlhabender Christen und deren Verfasser mit einer Untersuchung des darin vermittelten Verhältnisses zum Körper: Fern von Leibfeindlichkeit verdeutlichen gesundheitsorientierte Normen die legitime Sorge für den Körper. Dennoch gibt es eine Furcht vor dem Körper, die dessen stete Kontrolle erforderlich macht. The volume shows how, far from denying the body, the standards relating to health display a legitimate concern for bodily well-being. At the same time, however, there is a fear of the body, which makes it necessary to keep it constantly under control.
