Description
Summary:Unveiling obscure aspects of the political history of Bahia and Brazil, between 1838 and 1850, a period in which the Brazilian nation acquired its definitive contours, balancing the efforts of the rebels to assert their proposals for political organization and economic and social reforms. at the end of the 1830s, the Bahian rebels suffered a serious defeat by the official forces, beginning a phase that, despite not being marked by the occurrence of new rebellions, was characterized by the continued performance of a democratic and republican press, and for the constant threats of conflagration that, differently from the previous period, did not find the political environment conducive to its full manifestation, but provoked fears that were an important component of the political, social and cultural reality of the period.
