Sumario: | This work questions the relationship between innovative collective actors, such as the "new social movements" and the political institutions of representative democracy, starting from a basic hypothesis: the idea that civil society is the main source of political legitimation of democracy liberal. More precisely, what this monograph reflects on is the capacity of social movements to concretely experiment with alternative forms of democracy. In fact, contemporary movements aim to deepen the fundamental values of the "democratic revolution", that is to say, the principles of freedom and equality. They are constant carriers of struggles and social antagonisms: in fact, new struggles and new antagonisms arise every time the movements practice radical experiences of democracy in the many and different spheres of social life. Only by welcoming and valuing these alternative democratic practices and experiences, this is the thesis of the author of this work, will it be possible to relaunch democratic ideals in contemporary society. |
