Description
Summary:Despite the many studies on the author and the wealth of data on his university education, relatively little was known about Giorgio Bassani's high school years and the crucial encounters related to those. This book, rich in data and discoveries, retraces precisely that dark area, identifying in Francesco Viviani the first of the Masters who, well beyond the period spent in the classrooms, would have exerted a profound influence on the future writer. The Greek and Latin texts read in those distant times return to those indicated by Professor Guzzo in "Behind the door", confirming the profoundly educational role that classical culture had played in the genesis of ethical commitment, of the search for the truth that is at the basis of all Bassanian writing.
