Sumario:Building Bridges brings together ten papers — nine of which were presented at the annual meeting of the Southern Anthropological Society (SAS) in Savannah, Georgia, in February of 2010. The theme of the meeting, “Ports, Hubs and Bridges: Key Links in Anthropological Theory and Practice,” is a reference to the important interconnections found not only within the discipline among the various types of anthropologies, but also between the anthropological professional and those whom anthropologists teach, rely on for information, or otherwise focus on in their research. The papers in this volume elaborate upon bridges that can be or have been built in theory, pedagogy, and practice, and in a variety of cultural contexts. They are organised in three groups. Part I consists of papers that emphasise theory and conceptual issues; part II is for papers about teaching and practice; and, part III is for papers with an ethnography focus.
