| Sumario: | Chronologically speaking, the Koran created neither the Arabic language nor the Arabic letters. And yet, in the formidable brilliance of his thunderclap and by the infinitely multiplied echoes that he unleashed, he renewed, structured, diffused the old language, exalted his literature and created, in the full sense of the term this time, a civilization. The fundamental text of Arab literature affirms the rights and duties of mutual understanding among Arabs; he imposes that the nobility, in matters of knowledge, will pass through the only language which confers it and he will assign to his future expressions the obligation to be based on this voice of old Arabia which he has brought to its supreme form: literal, literary, classical Arabic. Classical Arabic language and literature are thus the sign, the mirror and the consciousness of a world which wants to perceive itself as global and one, and whose history can be read through theirs. |
