Summary:The Messinia landscape was one of the core areas of the Middle and Late Helladic culture in Greece. Based on a catalogue of 57 sites with around 240 grave complexes, the topographical situation of the graves, their architectural design and the inventory of gifts are analysed. In this way, the work provides a contribution to a better understanding of the social hierarchy and the political changes in this phase of Greek history.
