Descripción
Sumario:This volume (CCCM, 310) brings together a large number of hagiographic works, in prose and verse, of essentially monastic origin, written in Spain in the 9th-13th centuries. They include several lives (in particular of hermits), a passion (Saint Zoilus of Cordoba), accounts of the translation of relics (such as that of Saint Indaletia, one of the seven mythical evangelizers of Spain) and collections of miracles, either in uita or post mortem. These texts were composed in the monasteries of San Juan de la Peña (Huesca: Aragon), San Millán de la Cogolla (La Rioja/Castile) and San Zoilo de Carrión (Palencia: Castile). The Vita s. Vrbici confessoris was probably written in an unidentified Aragonese monastery in the 9th century, while the Liber de uita et miraculis s. Isidori agricolae is the work of a deacon of the church of Santa María de la Almudena in Madrid (13th century), with continuations first, a few years later, by a Franciscan, then later by other authors until the 15th century.
