Summary:Portland will join Battle Ground and Seattle as the three Pacific Northwest cities chosen to debut a film chronicling the ecological recovery at Mount St. Helens during the 30th anniversary commemorative events planned this year. Australian filmmaker Jorg Daniel Hissen spent four years making the 52-minute film, titled "Mount St. Helens: Life From Zero" that tracks the recovery of plants and animals that were in the volcano blast zone. USGS eruption movie The Portland screening will be followed by a Q-and-A session with a US Forest Service ecologist and USGS hydrologist, both of whom were chronicled in the movie.
