Description
Summary:Multidisciplinary work offers 'new' reading of the Inca Garcilaso's two-part masterpiece. Looks at 'indigenous' influences of Quechua oral traditions, especially those found in Cuzco among the upper class, and use of a formulaic question/answer format in his analysis of the Comentarios reales. Study of the Historia del Perú looks at semantic and symbolic aspects that create a syncretic topology and the iconografic transformation of particular symbols. An interesting study that merits a central place among Andean and Garcilasan studies. Extensive bibliography
