Sumario: | In the past, Cooper was in a car accident with his friend but has not experienced any natural disasters, medical trauma, or physical abuse more than punishment spanking from his father. Cooper has not been in any situation where he feared for his life or that he would be under attack. Cooper does recall the trauma of his mother’s first suicide attempt. At the time, Cooper was only a child and was brought to the hospital, where he had to wait to hear whether his mother would live. After the incident, Cooper began to have nightmares about the hospital or finding his mother dead. These nightmares and flashbacks occasionally reoccur. Cooper still does not like going to hospitals and is hyper vigilant with his mother, afraid he may do something that could trigger her to another suicide attempt. No matter how hard Cooper tried as a child to keep his mother happy, she still attempted suicide several more times. As Cooper grew up, he choose a college close to home in order to be near his mother and still has a reaction whenever his father calls him, as he wonders if it might be news that his mother finally succeeded in killing herself. Cooper has found it difficult to talk to his friends and girlfriends about this problem, and as a result, has distanced himself from them.
