Salas

Salas (Hebrew: סלאס), from Spanish ‘salas’ (rooms, halls), is a Spanish surname of Germanic and Jewish origin, and a common family name in the Spanish-speaking world. It is ranked amongst the most common surnames found in Costa Rica and in Mexico.

The surname is also associated with Sephardic Jews who emigrated from Spain to the Netherlands and South America following the expulsion in 1492. Some families with the surname ‘Salas’ remained in Spain despite the persecution. Provided by Wikipedia
